Shunske Sato appointed new artistic director
In 2018, Jos van Veldhoven left the Bach Society, after 35 years as artistic director. He was succeeded by Shunske Sato, concertmaster of the Bach Society since 2013.
On Monday 18 June 2018, Jos van Veldhoven was put in the limelight at the annual Friends’ Concert in the main auditorium of TivoliVredenburg. Anke Klein, Alderman for Culture and Deputy Mayor of Utrecht, presented Jos with the St Martin Medal, which is awarded to people who have been of meritorious service to the City of Utrecht over a long period in the cultural field. On the occasion of his departure, the Jos van Veldhoven Fund was set up, which aims to stimulate talent development at the Bach Society.
