Concert tour to the DDR

After World War II, the Bach Society gained international recognition, partly through participating in the Holland Festival. As a result, the choir was regularly invited to give concert series and perform at festivals abroad.

In 1977, the choir gave its first performance in the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, where Bach had worked for years as cantor. The Bach Society then took part in the Bachfest in the East German city of Schwerin.
