In the Netherlands, the 5th of May is the day the Dutch celebrate their freedom. Freedom is a big, important concept, which can be interpreted in many different ways. This is reflected in our varied programme, led by the French conductor Lionel Meunier.

Fascinated by the music of Johann Pachelbel, a great source of inspiration for Johann Sebastian Bach, Meunier compiled this unique programme on the theme of freedom and liberation! Both Bach and Pachelbel wrote an Easter cantata entitled Christ lag in Todesbanden. The two works are about the triumph and liberation of Easter: death is conquered and freedom regained. It is music filled with hope – which we are happy to perform in these times.
